How the rolling window works
The European Commission describes a short stay as generally no more than 90 days within any 180-day period. It is a moving window: for each day of presence, you look back 179 more days and count the days spent in the Schengen Area during that 180-day span.
Entry and exit days count as days of stay. That is why a trip from 1 June to 10 June uses ten days, not nine.
What this calculator does not cover
It does not account for more favourable bilateral visa-waiver arrangements, visas that authorise fewer than 90 days, residence permits, long-stay visas or country-specific legal interpretation. The Commission itself describes its official calculator as a helping tool rather than a legal right to stay.
